15 Reasons Why Haley Bennett Is Dubbed The New Jennifer Lawrence

Quick Links
If you recognize the name Haley Bennett, it’s probably because you have seen her in a ton of movies. She’s being hailed as the next Jennifer Lawrence, so J-Law better start watching her back. She’s not only becoming a huge star, but she also kind of looks like Jennifer Lawrence and it’s not the first time that she’s heard it. She started on the Scene in The Equalizer and it wasn’t long before she was in one movie right after another. She starred in The Magnificent Seven alongside Chris Pratt and apparently, she was the only one capable of shooting a gun properly onset. She then went on to play in The Girl on the Train alongside Emily Blunt. She then had the opportunity of being in Warren Beatty’s Rules Don’t Apply. She’s certainly created quite the name for herself in Hollywood. We wonder if Chris Pratt would be able to tell her apart from Jennifer Lawrence. Just kidding. But the girl has attracted a lot of attention which can only help her in her career.
She’s beautiful, young, and talented — how could she go wrong in Hollywood? She starred in Thank You for Your Service last year and has two more movies coming out this year. We think this girl has a strong career in Hollywood and we look forward to seeing what she does next. Check out these 15 reasons why Haley Bennet is dubbed the new Jennifer Lawrence.
She Has A Very Popular Look
It sure can’t hurt your career if you look like Jennifer Lawrence. J-Law has been killing it in Hollywood and she’s still such a young girl. Many people think that she’s a dead ringer for Jennifer Lawrence and they keep telling Haley Bennett all about it.
“Everyone thinks I’m Jennifer Lawrence What if I just created a huge scandal — like, did something crazy in public? J-Law takes a pie and smashes it in someone’s face!”
Now, that would be a little tempting, but we don’t think she really wants to be on J-Law’s bad side. She probably decided not to do it because she simply just does not have the time. She has been in a number of movies over the past few years and we’re surprised that she’s not exhausted.
She’s Super Talented
You have to be, after all, in order to be cast in so many movies within a couple of years. She’s been in popular films with some heavy hitters like Chris Pratt and Emily Blunt. She’s only 30 years old and yet she has a strong base in Hollywood to make it really big. She could easily go as big as Jennifer Lawrence has gone. Why not? She has the looks for it, that’s for sure.
She has a lot of major roles under her belt already, so it’s not a stretch to think that she’s going to go far in the industry.
She started off with Music and Lyrics a movie that starred Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. Even at a young age, she was in some major movies with big stars.
Haley Bennett Has A Set Of Pipes
Well, she may have something on Jennifer Lawrence and that’s a singing voice. A girl can be a hot commodity in Hollywood if she can sing as well as act. She showed off her musical talent when she starred in Music and Lyrics. She actually got to perform several songs in the movie. As if that wasn’t awesome enough, she got to do a duet with Hugh Grant. She may have a great singing voice, but performing doesn’t come easy for the J-Law look-alike.
“I was so terrified before an audience that I would break out in these ugly red hives, and my lips would quiver at the sight of a word or a song."
It sounds like she has a lot of advantages available to her.
She's Got A Rebellious Side
That’s one thing that is apparent when it comes to Haley Bennett. She plays Emma in The Magnificent Seven and another character asked Emma why it was her that decided to go after the Seven. Bennett has an easy answer for that one when she says,
"Because I’m the only one who had the balls to do it!”
It’s answers like that which sets Bennett apart from other actresses. She is witty, gritty, and has all the tenacity in the world. In other words, she can hold her own in Hollywood and that’s no easy task for a young actress. It was this kind of attitude that helped Bennett steal the show in a movie that had a bunch of major stars in it. How on Earth did she get such a role? Apparently, she brought a pie to the audition.
She Is Dedicated To Her Roles
When it comes to being a serious actress in Hollywood, in order to have staying power you need to be willing to work hard. That means preparing for your character in any way possible. One of the reasons why she is so popular in Hollywood is because she’s very dedicated to her roles and it’s being noticed. She took up boxing for her role in The Magnificent Seven to get some more muscle on her body.
“I also picked up boxing to beef up a bit. I couldn’t look like I had never done outside work before. It was important to have my character look like she could handle her own and also have the same reflexes that you would have had back then.”
It’s that dedication that producers and directors are looking for.
She's Got Skill
One thing that surprised the crew on The Magnificent Seven was how well she could handle a gun, but she had a background that included riding horses and growing up around guns. The director joked that she could handle the gun better than any of the men on set. She stated that she “fell in love with her Winchester shotgun.” She was sent to cowboy boot camp with the rest of the cast which sounds like it would be a lot of fun.
“We went through a cowboy boot camp, which is the best term for it.
We were there for two hours a day riding horses and working with the fastest gunslinger ever recorded.” She has certainly been impressing everyone in Hollywood and it’s no wonder that she keeps getting cast in movies.
She Can Put Martha Stewart To Shame With Baking
Well, she does love to bring pies to auditions, so they must be good enough to impress people. She always thought that if she couldn’t make it as an actress, then she could make it in the world as a chef. “
If acting doesn’t work out, I’m probably going to be a professional chef. You’ll see me on Top Chef someday. My Midwestern hospitality needs an outlet, you know?”
Her co-stars must have loved working with her because she would often make them baked goods. When she went to the Fourth of July party on the set of The Magnificent Seven, she brought a peach cobbler and probably won over the hearts of everyone there. Antoine Fuqua received an apple pie at the audition and it’s no wonder she got the role.
She Read Girl On A Train Before She Starred In It
The book was excellent and the movie was just as chilling. When she was on the set of The Magnificent Seven, she was surrounded by men, so she found it refreshing to dive into a book about a woman.
“I read the book when I was doing The Magnificent Seven because it was all guys, it was seven guys, and I picked up the book because it had the word 'girl' in the title."
She played a damaged character that met a gruesome fate in the end. We’re not sure if she got the same role because of pie again at an audition or if it was because of her enormous talent. People could see her talent growing after each movie she starred in.
She Loves To Laugh All The Time
Even when she is in an arduous role, working hard, she found a reason to laugh. It was just the way that she was and her co-stars loved it. When co-star Peter Sarsgaard was asked about her behavior on set, he laughed and said,
“She’s generally like that. Anyone who tells you that this is just fun is out of their mind.”
But Bennett did love every minute of it and laughed during takes. “Each scene was just so different and so fun,” she said. “You can see that we were having fun. There was a really nice vibe on set. We were always laughing. I was always smiling except between action and cut.” It sounds like it must have been a lot of fun. She is definitely a fun-loving girl and that’s why people love her.
She Can Dress A Deer
Well hopefully PETA doesn’t find out, but we have to admit that this girl has a lot of character. We already know that she knows how to shoot a gun and ride a horse, but that’s not all. She was raised by a single father in the woods of Ohio, so it’s no wonder that she knows how to handle a gun. She was raised as a tomboy. She was taught to hunt in those woods and she even knows how to dress a deer. “My dad was a single father, and he was a hunter. I learned how to shoot when I was pretty little. My dad would take me deer hunting with him, which was pretty traumatic — Bambi was one of my favorite movies.”
She’s On Her Way To Being An "It" Girl
She is taking Hollywood by storm and it’s even hard for her to believe how quickly it has happened. She’s talented though and even when she’s been in back to back movies, she’s just taking it all a day at a time. She’s well on her way to being the next "it" girl and that’s where Jennifer Lawrence better watch out. When people have asked her about the "it" girl status, she has stated that it’s something that’s he fears.
“Yeah, that term scares me. There’s no good context on ‘it.’ It is a clown. A very scary clown. That’s a good way of thinking. I don’t want to be a scary clown.”
She better get used to it though because it doesn’t seem like her career is slowing down at all.
She’s A Very Private Person
Many people have asked about her dating life and if you are wondering who she’s dating, you won’t find the answer easily. She has been connected to Andrew Frame, but it’s still on the down low. You are unlikely to hear about her personal life on social media. If she starts dating or eventually gets married, we will all likely be the last to know. She does use social media like Instagram, but she uses it for her projects as well as showing off her menagerie. She is very much like Penelope Cruz who just promotes her movies on Instagram and doesn’t put her personal life on there. You rarely see pictures of family or her husband. Haley Bennett operates the same way and it’s probably the best thing that she can do for her career.
She Is Fully Focused On Her Career
She isn’t interested in partying or being one of the “cool girls” in Hollywood. She has stated that she wanted to have a long career in Hollywood and that means staying focused. She wants to pick the right roles and spend time with the right people. For someone so young, she is making some very smart choices.
“I want to have a long career. I’m very happy with the choices I’ve been making and the people I’ve been working with. I hope I can continue along this path. I have a thousand wants, it’s hard to really hone in on just a few.”
She knows how to create the career of her dreams. “Right now, I definitely feel that I have the chisel in my hand and I’m carving away, at least I’m attempting to.”
Family Values Are Very Important To Her
When she goes back to Ohio to visit her family, things are very normal for her there. They have old fashioned values and being close to family is very important. When asked what happens in a small town in Ohio, she answered,
“Mostly we would spend time with family. That was the small-time values. We would go to my aunt's house and my grandma's house. My grandfather was always planting roses and we would go fishing.
We would cook together, or my grandmother would cook for all the grandchildren. So, I’d spend time with cousins and we would just lay outside, which I feel like is a lost art: laying outside.” She seems to be a very normal girl who has no interest in living the life of the rich and famous. It’s very refreshing to see.
She Flipped Four Wheelers And Scared Boys Away
She is one special girl and it’s because she’s not like most girls in Hollywood. When she talks about her childhood in Ohio, she talks about being a tomboy and how she used to scare boys away. She’s a stunning girl so it’s hard to believe that could ever happen, but it’s all part of the charm of Haley Bennett.
“I think I just gave up on trying to be girly. I wasn't getting any boyfriends. That's for sure. I went through a really dorky phase.”
She also flipped four-wheelers on more than one occasion. “One time that I remember in particular [was] when I was in 6th grade and I thought I was going to die. And then, the second time I flipped a four-wheeler — well, almost flipped the four-wheeler, I didn't actually flip the four-wheeler — I was with the director of Girl on the Train, Tate Taylor when I first met him in Mississippi. But I didn't actually flip it.”
